Quicksilver is the newest novel by Neal Stephenson. A cursory glance at this website would seem to reveal that the book is about the ancestors of the characters in Cryptonomicon. An interesting idea, though I’m a little doubtful. You can read an excerpt of the book here.

Oh stuff and nonsense! You stray from the formula and you get hurt. (See Amigos in New York) I’ll read the book when it comes out. It’s probably quite good. I DO have my doubts about it though.
