Video games as an art form

Henry Jenkins – Games, the New Lively Art

Certainly, video games are an art form. If television is, they certainly are. Art is, first and foremost, craft. (Artwork, hmm.) Once that criteria is accepted, the answer seems to become pretty clear. I think that if you asked people my age and younger if video games were art, you’d come up with a pretty positive consensus. Anyway, it’s a neat article.

I’m totally going to buy this book…

I’m going to buy Cory Doctorow’s Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom.

He’s distributing his book online for free at the above site. I want to reward this guy, monetarily, for being such a good sport. And I want to let his publisher know that they’ve got my support for them to be moving in this direction too. It seems like, in these cases, money speaks louder than words.
